I have sent out emails to different companies. Including the North Face, Mountain Hardware and Coleman.
Inquiring about where the future of camping is heading, what are the current trends and how the recent past has changed in tent design, looking at materials and users.
Went camping to the New Forest.
This trip was very successful as it was during the school holidays, so it was very busy and this meant there was a large number of tents of all different shapes and sizes, took lots of photos. Managed to talk to a few people, however people were willing to chat but not fill out a questionnaire, therefore had to transcript what they said and apply to the questionnaire afterwards.
Went to Blacks in Bluewater. This is an outdoor shop, went in there to talk to the staff about tents, however they sell tents online but within the store they do not stock tents, so was a waste of time as no one knew much about tents.
NCCW = National Camping and Caravanning Week.
‘NCCW’ from The Camping and Caravanning Club is a celebration of the nation’s growing love of camping, caravanning and the great outdoors.
Went camping to Bracelands in the Forest of Dean during NCCW i thought this would be a good experience as there might be people there who were new and expereinced at camping.
This worked well as after talking to some people i started to have a good understanding of questions i wanted to include in a questionnaire.
I got a reply.
Martin Jones emailed me back. Found out he is a senior designer of not just Vango but also for AMG group which is an umbrella corporation incorporating not just Vango but other compnaies like Trangia whch all specialise in outdoor equipment.
Whilst looking into tent designs, I came across a company called Vango. This was the first company where they talk about their designs a little bit. I have found out that the senior designer is called Martin Jones.
Via their complaints page, I have sent written martin an email and asked whom every receives it if they can forward my details to Martin.
LETS TRY AND SEE.
I have started to research into tents and their designers and I have hit a brick wall. Everytime I start to look into a company such as Coleman all I find is sales info and cannot get through this sales facade.

Now that i have narrowed down the research in the research diagram, this is a rough work out of how the summer will be broken down.
This is rough outline of there areas I am going to look into.
Have been focusing on uni work therefore not much has been done for the last few weeks. Been looking briefly into camping shops, trying to find out who the designers are. Struggling to get through the shop front websites so far.
